Student Media Week

The Edit and Radio Caley are very happy to announce they have just confirmed a full timetable for a Media Week in March!!

The aim of the Media Week is to invite broadcasters and journalists into the university to come and give advice and inspire GCU students careers.

So you can expect influential broadcasters and journalists speaking about what they do best, their advice for you, your chance to ask them any questions and also a few possibilities for work placements! It is definitely not a week to be missed.

And here is a little taster of a few of the brilliant speakers we have lined up for you…

Peter Laing (Deadline News)

Peter is the director of Deadline News, one of Scotlands leading independent news agencies. Deadline News provide press and pictures to national papers. Peter is going to give us a Rough Guide to news reporting; expect the low down on how to get the best stories and how to perform well in your first job! Plus Peter is on the look out for some students for work placements.

Jeff Zycinski

Jeff is currently the Head of BBC Scotland and has held the post for 8 years. Jeff commissions and schedules programmes for BBC Radio Scotland and is responsible for the production teams working for BBC Network Radio based in Scotland. Jeff will be speaking with his colleague Gareth Hydes and taking your questions about what it is like working in Britains biggest broadcasting corporation.

Wendy Gilmour (Thank Fifi)

Wendy is a renowned fashion and lifestyle blogger; she is local to Glasgow but her blog has been internationally noticed and featured in the likes of Elle magazine and Marie-Claire.
